Madhya Pradesh, a State in the heart of India, largely unexplored by many but on my recent visit there I found it to be a buried treasure waiting to be discovered and experienced. So much so that I am addicted to Madhya Pradesh now and can not wait to visit this beautiful and largely unexplored part of Incredible India again.

This experience – From Temple to Tiger, takes you from the ancient (and erotic) 10th century Hindu and Jain temples of Khajuraho, a UNESCO World Heritage Site to the fastest 'recovered' national park in India – Panna. Panna National Park, lost it’s entire tiger population at the turn of the century to poaching and disease. However, over the past decade, it has made a spectacular come back with the fastest growing tiger population in India.

What makes this national park even more interesting, is that it is off-the-beaten-path compared to it’s cousins - Bandhavgarh and Kanha National Parks. And it is one of the few national parks in India where you can go on a night safari.

Other optional activities around the Park include, boating on the Ken (Karnavati) River, visit to one of the many waterfalls and canyons in the region.

Panna National Park is also a paradise for birdwatchers (over 200 species recorded) and has several species of migratory and resident birds, including mottled wood owl, vultures, painted francolin and many many more. So if you’re a birdwatcher, you have come to the right place.

I have tailored this experience for travelers and explorers who enjoy being outdoors, in the midst of nature and have a keen interest in Indian history, wildlife and gazing at starry nights. Most of the properties, where my clients stay do not have a television in the room.

All the activities mentioned in this experience have been personally visited and tried and tested by me.

Please Note:
  • Wear dull color clothes (brown, grey, olive green) during nature walks and safaris.
  • There is no guarantee that you will see the above wildlife. The river and / or sanctuary is their habitat and sightings depend on water level in the river, human interference, climatic conditions, weather and other factors, migratory pattern of birds, most of which are beyond your and my control. I will do my best to show you all there is to see.
  • What to carry during the safari: photo identification, camera, binoculars, warm jacket (in the winter), backpack, sun glasses, cap, vizer, sun block, some cash, and drinking water.

  • To prevent any disturbance to wildlife, I do not permit the use of any call playback to attract birds, feeding or baiting of wildlife. Despite this, if you do and are caught by the authorities or called out by locals or fellow wildlife enthusiasts, then you are entirely on your own - embarrassment, fines and other penalties as per the local laws governing national parks and wildlife sanctuaries are to be borne by you.
  • Due to the remoteness of the location, you may not have access to the kind of amenities, facilities and services that you typically are used to / get in big cities. Please ask me if you have any questions about what or what not to bring with you on this trip. Cell phone network and power supply in the resort may be erratic too. Please bear with us.
